GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)--Any entrepreneur can tell you starting a business is not only a big risk but a lot of hard work. But for one Grand Junction couple the restaurant business was just something they couldn't wait to swim into. In this edition of 11 Cares for Business Aaron Luna brings us this 'fish tail' about Fins Grill.

With pictures of boats, fish and fishermen scattered throughout the dinning room it's not surprising to learn that Fins Grill owner Ron Hegge used to be a fisherman. "probably my heritage, I'm Norwegian so it's born in my genes and I'm going to love the sea," says, Ron.

Working in the seafood industry for 30 years in Alaska, Ron knows his fish but his love for the sea was no match for the love of his life. Meeting his future wife Judy on the golf course, Ron decided to move to the Valley and pursue another one of his dreams opening a seafood restaurant. Ron says, "People are looking for healthier choices. They are looking for wild and sustainable and natural foods." That idea spawned Fins Grill.

"Last October we really started this endeavor and just kept learning and working and here we are," says Judy. Since then people have been swimming up stream so to speak to sample some of Fins Grill's freshest fair. Ron says, "We have very high standards that we want to meet and we are trying to provide a good selection at a very reasonable and affordable price." Something that's helping to spice up the local cuisine. "We're selling so many cod tacos it's unbelievable," says Ron. But Ron has found out owning a restaurant, even for a guy who loves his seafood, isn't the easiest of jobs. "The stress i think might be a little bit more on this end," says Ron.

Eventually Ron and Judy hope to cast their nets across the state. Judy says, "If it worked in Grand Junction it'll work other places." These two looking to hook a few more taste buds and make sure the big one doesn't get away.

Fins Grill is also expanding their seating area to include an outside patio. The restaurant is located next to Safeway on Horizon Drive.
