GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - It was a sweet breakfast for some local business owners Thursday as they met with County Commissioner Craig Meis for coffee, doughnuts and a check.
Meis met with business owners to present refund checks after the Commissioners voted earlier this week to give back the county’s share of personal property taxes the businesses paid.
The tax is paid for on any personal equipment used in a business, such as security devices or machinery.
Commissioners cut the tax as part of Mesa County’s Open For Business initiative, a move to encourage local business growth and our economy.
