GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) - With panoramic views of the Grand Mesa, breath taking sunsets, gourmet meals and luxurious accommodations, the Los Altos Bed and Breakfast is the perfect get away for anyone looking to relax.

The Garrett house on Los Altos is what some might call an island in the sky. Built in 1997, it possesses modern facilities with a nice touch of elegant European hospitality that one must experience to truly understand.

15 years ago, Lee and Young-Ja Garrett decided they were going to make a change to their life style.

"2 o'clock one morning I woke up and I thought, why not a bed and breakfast, and then I threw that idea out to the wife, she was a school teacher at the time, and I was a general contractor at the time and we thought it over for a week or so and agreed," says Lee Garrett.

Months later, Los Altos Bed and Breakfast was built atop of Hill View Drive, giving guests a spectacular view of Grand Junction, the Grand Mesa, and the Monument.

"To tell guests that they’re looking 110 kilometers that way just makes their jaw drop," says Lee Garrett.

Lee and Young-Ja host guests from all over the world and say they enjoy meeting such a wide variety of people.

"Interesting occupations, and learning about their experiences and their families and their blessings and their difficulties and challenges in life, it's really people oriented," says Young-Ja Garrett.

Catering to so many visitors, Lee and Young-Ja say they strive to make every guest's stay the very best.

"The most important is a very comfortable bed and the wonderful breakfast and we try to meet individuals needs, so when they make a reservation we ask if they have any special dietary needs and try to plan meals accordingly," says Young-Ja Garrett.

But waking up at 6am every morning to run a bed and breakfast with 7 rooms and up to 19 people dining, is truly a labor of love.

"It can be really tiring, especially when we work 7 days a week 6 months out of the year at least, it’s tough to get a day off sometime. It's worth it, we really enjoy the property, we enjoy being here, we enjoy all the guests and it's well worth it, were in our 15 year and were old for in keepers, were the oldest in the valley now," says Lee Garrett.
