Good news for Mesa County's economy.
The Workforce Center is seeing a decrease in the number of people filing for unemployment.
As of Tuesday, 444 people had filed in the month of June.
These numbers are people filing for the first time.
It's a 50 percent decrease from the highest recorded month, March, when a little more than 1,000 people filed for unemployment.
The good news continues for the unemployment rate, too.
For the month of May the Mesa County rate was 8.1, exactly where it was in April.
The Workforce Center says it's still seeing people coming in but not nearly as many as it saw in February and March and officials there are optimistic that things may be turning around.
