GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Looking good doesn't have to suffer while you're cooking.
A local designer is putting a fashionable spin on a trend many may think is outdated and is helping move aprons into a new era.
Owner of Z's Orchard Carol Zadrozny sells these new fashionable aprons. She says until now they haven't really been in style since grandma was wearing them in the kitchen.
But with fresh prints, bright colors and a better fit, the once drab smock is making a fashionable comeback.
Zadrozny says, "You feel like you have something special on. You're not just covering up to keep your clothes clean."
These handmade, sassy designs are all the fruits of her daughter's labor. Designer Stephanie Crow says, "I try not to make any apron the same."
Crow considers herself an artist and each apron she creates is intended to inspire a unique personality.
She explains, "They're fun. It kind of captures a little of personality, adding a little whimsy to it."
Crow had the idea to make her flirty aprons less than a year ago, now they're flying off the racks. So she's even selling them online on Z's Orchard's Web site.
