FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) - A Fruita woman says God told her to open a new thrift shop.
The Hands and Feet Family Thrift Store officially opened Friday with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce.
The shop's owner, Coleen Shive, has been a second grade teacher at a local Christian school for the last seven years and recently got the feeling she should be doing something else.
"It was a god thing," says Shive. "I just keep thinking there's something else out there and it just hit me and I called my husband and
I said this is what we're supposed to do and this is what the store is supposed to be called."
Shive plans to donate some of her proceeds to local non–profits like Monument Little League and Habitat for Humanity.
The store is located at 225 E. Aspen Ave in Fruita.
