FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) - Shoppers in Fruita are on a treasure hunt in town for bargains.
The Fruita Treasure Club is a shop local campaign that launched this month.
About 14,000 households were mailed club cards, which score them deals with more than 50 businesses.
The bargains range from discounts on dentist visits to mechanics and restaurants.
One clothing boutique owner says the Treasure Club will hopefully bring her store new clientele.
Susan Lettman, owner of Klik, says "It's a great way to bring locals in and anybody from around the Valley to shop local, rather than on the Internet or out of town, especially in this economy."
Klik is offering $10 off any buy of $50 or more.
The City Manager says Fruita has been losing shoppers to Grand Junction for years. The Fruita Treasure Club aims to keep residents buying close to home.
