GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Behold the power of nitrogen! That's what a local tire dealer wants you to do.

Big-O Tires offers a different gas to fill your wheels and it's the heavier gas, nitrogen.

For $5 a tire, a Big-O Tires expert fills it with a type of air that's about 95 percent nitrogen. They say say the gas will keep your tires inflated better than ever.

Nitrogen is a gas that's not affected nearly as much by temperature as regular air is. When the thermometer rises, your tire pressure won't change, so you won't need to worry as much about a blowout when you driving down a hot highway.

Another thing to consider is how it affects your gas mileage, you can waste a lot of gas with underinflated tires. Because nitrogen keeps the tire pressure consistent, you can expect far better gas mileage.
