GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Jo-Ann Fabrics’ corporate office has finally issued a statement to 11 News about why the store inside Mesa Mall is closing.
A Jo-Ann Fabrics’ spokeswoman says Mesa Mall decided not to renew the store’s lease and the negotiations fell apart so quickly the store didn’t have time to relocate to another place.
Their team members don't have a plan either. Twenty two people work there, three full-time and 19 part-time.
The spokeswoman for the company says the store was performing well and the company wants to stay in the community. The closest store is Denver.
Jo-Ann’s is now looking for a new location in Grand Junction and must be out of the mall by Aug. 15. It’s possible the store will close earlier if all the inventory is gone.
