PALISADE, Colo. (KKCO) - There’s a place in Palisade where you can chop down your own Christmas tree, buy one-of-a-kind art and enjoy some apple cider and visit with the locals.

“The saws are really little and it's harder than it looks,” says Claire Hobika as she hacks away at the bottom of a Christmas tree. It’s the Hobika’s seventh time coming to the Orchard Mesa Tree Farm. And like the Hobikas, many families flock to the area in search of the perfect tree.

From Scotch Pines to Douglass Firs and even some White Pines, with 800 trees tagged to sell, there's something for everyone. “Most of these trees were planted 17 and 18 years ago. And we keep trimming them down so they can be resold,” says Harry Clark, head tree thrower at the tree farm.

The farm also offers hay rides, crackling fires and tasty fresh popped kernels of corn. The farm prides itself in giving guests an experience to remember. There's even one-of-a-kind art for sale.

Nathan Williams says it's, “Just fun to make the paintings and sell them and make money for the Salvation Army.” Last year, Nathan and his brother Joe raised $247 for the non–profit. Something they hope to do again this year. “We decided the Salvation Army needed a little extra money this year,” says Nathan. And when they aren't creating master pieces they're making sure their guests feel at home.

The Orchard Mesa Tree Farm is located at 3338 C Road in Palisade. Starting Dec. 3, it will be open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
