PALISADE, Colo. (KKCO) - A local business is looking to compete in a one-of-a-kind rally circuit in North America.

Flyin’ Miata is trying to make the trip to Canada to compete in the Targa Newfoundland. It’s a 1,400 mile week-long rally held on the streets of the Canadian province of Newfoundland.

Flyin’ Miata owner Bill Cardell is planning on taking two cars over the border, two of the company's V8 Miatas. He will be accompanied by one of his employees, Keith Tanner, who drove in the rally in 2008 finishing 16th overall and 1st in class.

It’s a rally that’s both physically and mentally exhausting. Tanner says, "You've got to work pretty hard to get six hours of sleep a night. It's often referred to as the Ironman of motor sports because around about day three you've realized it's not so much a race as an endurance contest."

The trip to Canada is an expensive one and Flyin’ Miata is looking for help to pay for it. If you’d like to help them out, they are accepting sponsorships. You can click on a link to their Web site or facebook page below under Related Links.
