GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)_Police are investigating an early morning accident that sent a man to the hospital and then landed him in jail.
Colorado State Troopers say 20-year-old Alan Reeves was driving a truck drunk when he veered off the road, crashed through a fence, took out a basketball hoop and smashed into three cars parked in the driveway of a home at 3155 Sharptail Street.
Steve White was sleeping at the time of the crash and compared the noise the accident made to a train wreck. He said he ran to his window and looked out and saw a lot of smoke. White called 911.
White says he's lucky to be alive because the truck was headed straight towards his bedroom. He believes the three vehicles parked in his driveway saved his life.
Reeves was taken to St. Mary's Hospital where he was arrested on suspicion of DUI, reckless driving and driving without insurance.
