PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) -- About 14,000 marijuana plants seized during a bust in Colorado's southern mountains has been destroyed without a whiff of smoke.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office burned the pot in the high-intensity furnace at the Evraz steel plant in Pueblo on Wednesday.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Laurie Kilpatrick said Thursday that no smoke was produced and the plant's filter controls prevented any "bad stuff", such as THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, from escaping into the air.

The sheriff's office has used the plant to destroy marijuana and narcotics before.

This batch of marijuana was seized from two grow sites near the San Isabel National Forest on Aug. 15.
