White House (AP) President Bush goes to the labor department today to meet with his key economic advisers to discuss what fed chairman Ben Bernanke calls a “wobbly” economy.

The president will be briefed on economic growth figures which are almost certain to be grim. An estimate four weeks ago showed the economy nearly flat-lined in the fourth quarter.

Other disturbing numbers include plummeting home sales and consumer confidence and growing inflation. There are also the credit crunch and deteriorating job market.

The president and his advisers continue to dismiss any talk of recession.
