Pentagon (AP) The top american commander in Iraq says talks are under way about further withdrawals from Iraq after the surge troops have gone home this summer.

At a news conference yesterday with vice president Cheney in Iraq, general David petraeus sounded a familiar refrain -- it all depends on the situation on the ground. The general says a number of things will have to happen before the U.S. gets to a point where
It can begin pulling one or two brigades out of Iraq every month.

Petraeus will return to Washington next month to discuss things with President Bush and congress.
