New Attacks on Baghdad's Green Zone
Baghdad's fortified green zone is coming under fire again today, less than 24 hours after Shiite cleric Muqtada Al-Sadr called for his fighters to stand down.

Baghdad (AP) Baghdad's fortified green zone is coming under fire again today, less than 24 hours after Shiite cleric Muqtada Al-Sadr called for his fighters to stand down.
The area is the nerve center of the U.S. mission in Iraq and the Iraqi government. While the rocket and mortar attacks have eased in recent days, they have been hitting the zone nearly daily for more than a week. Most of the fire has been coming from Shiite-dominated areas of eastern Baghdad.
At least two Americans were killed last week, but the U.S. embassy says there have been no reports of serious injuries or major damage from today's attacks.
Meanwhile, the situation in the southern city of Basra has been relatively calm, though there has been sporadic gunfire and Iraqi troops have been seen making house-to-house searches
