The Mesa County Coroner's Office has ruled the death of a Whitewater man a homicide.

Alan Helmick, 62, was discovered in his home Tuesday with a gun shot wound to the head.

Deputies with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office were called out to 34999 Seminoe just before noon Tuesday on a report of a robbery.

Neighbors in the area tell 11 News Helmick's wife came home to find her husband dead.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Sheriff's Office are investigating the homicide.
