Pearl, Miss. (AP) They're not exactly rooting for him, but prominent white supremacists anticipate a boost to their cause if Barack Obama becomes the first black president.

They say his election would trigger a backlash among whites that they think is long overdue.

Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke says Obama would be a “visual aid” to the idea that whites have lost control of America.

He and others say that could prompt a race war, which many white supremacists believe whites would win.

One even compares it to the revolutionary war of 1776, when the 13 colonies came together against the King of England. Only he says this time it'd be the 50 states coming together “against Martin Luther King.”

Not many outside those circles think such a result is anything more than a fantasy.
