A home in Montrose is leveled after a propane tank leaked and caused the house to explode.
The explosion happened at 14013 6175 Road just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The resident of the home, Lewis Willson, was taken to Montrose Memorial Hospital with severe injuries. Willson was later taken to North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley where he remains in critical condition in the burn unit. No one else was inside the home.
Fire officials say there was a propane leak in the house and the explosion was caused when Willson lit a cigarette.
Fire officials want to remind people that if you ever smell gas you need to evacuate immediately.
