Denver (AP) A group that backs republicans running for critical seats in congress won't run advertisements supporting congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave in the week leading up to election day.
The National Republican Congressional Committee confirms it's canceling a $1.2 million television ad buy but won't say why.
Musgrave's campaign says it shows the GOP is confident Musgrave will be re-elected to a fourth term. But a spokesman for her opponent, Betsy Markey, says it shows that Musgrave's negative ads have been backfiring.
The ads will continue to run through Monday.
There also could be fewer ads running in the hotly contested race for Colorado's open U.S. Senate seat. A Democratic group reportedly plans to yank ads backing Democrat Mark Udall next week.
