GENOA, COLO. (AP) _ High wind and blowing dust apparently contributed to a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 70 that
killed two people and forced authorities to close a 100-mile stretch
of the highway and isn't expect to reopen until after midnight.
Colorado State Patrol Trooper David Hall says at least eight passenger cars and six tractor-trailer trucks are involved in a collision near mile marker 374 on I-70's westbound lanes. That's near the town of Genoa, about 90 miles southeast of Denver.
The patrol shut down the interstate between Limon and Burlington
near the Kansas state line.
Patrol officers are urging motorists to use U.S. Highway 36 to the north and U.S. 287 to the south as alternate routes.
