The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is trying to figure out what happened in a Pear Park neighborhood that sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries.
Officials say around 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening, deputies were called out the 3000 block of Eagle Wood Ct, off of 30 1/2 Road, on reports that shots had been fired in the area.
When deputies arrived on scene, they say they found a man who had what they describe as serious injuries. He was rushed to the hospital in a personal car.
At this point, officials say they do not know what exactly caused those injuries, but they believe he is the victim of an altercation that took place at 3055 Eagle Wood Ct. They confirmed that shell casings were found on the ground in the area.
Officials say deputies will remain on scene well into the night. They say investigators have been speaking with people at the sheriff's office about what happened, but could not say if those people were eyewitnesses or suspects.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Officials say the man's injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
