A Grand Junction man has been sentenced for causing a crash that killed a young mother.
Brandon Walton was sentenced Monday morning to 7 years in prison and 10 years probation.
The 25-year-old was driving drunk back in October when he crashed his truck into a car driven by 28–year–old Ashley Chapman of Grand Junction. Chapman later died and three others were injured in the crash that happened at D ½ and 30 roads.
Walton's sentencing hearing lasted around two hours. After he was sentenced the family of Chapman told 11News they don't think justice was served and that Walton deserved more time behind bars.
In April, Walton pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide, DUI and 3 counts of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury. He faced a max of 26 years.
