The body of 42-year-old Eric Kophs was found on a small island several miles downriver from where he fell in last month.

Searchers say Kophs was rafting with a friend when he fell out of the raft in southwest Grand County near the town of Radium, which is west of Kremmling. He was using the oars of the raft when he fell out and he was last seen swimming when his friend lost sight of him.

Authorities say Kophs had rafted the river many times.

The search for him had been called off more than a week ago when he had not been found.

Kophs was the Executive Director of Elementary Schools for the Cherry Creek School District in Aurora.
