LITTLE ROCK, ARK. (AP) -- A man accused of killing a 16-year-old girl he met online has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder after the girl's body was found in a barrel in western Arkansas.
A judge on Wednesday appointed a public defender to represent 36-year-old Lloyd Jones in the case of Angela Allen's death. The public defender's office says an attorney hasn't been assigned.
Authorities found Allen's body Friday inside a plastic barrel on land owned by Jones' brother near Lavaca.
Authorities say Jones told investigators he picked Allen up Feb. 10 and took her to the Arkansas River. Jones told them he was making out with Allen, but pushed her into the water after she told him her age.
Jones is being held at the Sebastian County jail on $1 million bond.
