One community is getting the second chance it needs to bring life back to an area devastated by Colorado’s most destructive wildfire in state history.
The Colorado Springs Convention and Visitor’s Bureau will receive a $100,000 grand to promote tourism in the city, Senator Michael Bennet announced Wednesday.
The goal is to lure visitors back to the foot of Pike’s Peak and the surrounding area.
The Waldo Canyon Fire destroyed nearly 350 homes and killed two people this past June, right in the middle of the peak tourism season.
The grant will come from the US Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration.
