Gas prices shot up over the Labor Day weekend, breaking a holiday record.
GasBuddy.com says the national average for a gallon of regular gas was $3.80 over the weekend: 13 cents higher than last year's Labor Day average.
It was the highest price ever recorded on the holiday weekend.
Reports say gas prices should drop as workers return to oil rigs along the gulf coast, and prices should continue to fall later this month as the summer driving season comes to a close.
