DENVER (AP) -- Colorado officials are trying to find other jobs for 19 state employees who failed background checks.

The employees were originally hired to work for other state agencies, but those agencies were recently merged with the Department of Public Safety, which has more stringent rules.

According to the Denver Post, other state agencies can decide whether illegal behavior disqualifies an applicant for a state job. Some employees refused to take a polygraph test and others failed the test.
