Philadelphia (AP) Barack Obama says he knows John McCain has asked supporters to tone down their attacks on him. But Obama says McCain's ideas are still wrong for the country.

Obama said at a rally Saturday in Philadelphia that he appreciates the effort by McCain to reminder people that the candidates can disagree on issues while still respecting each other.

Obama says McCain has served his country with honor and deserves thanks for that. But Obama says McCain just doesn't get it when it comes to the struggling economy.

McCain was campaigning in Minnesota on Friday when he took the microphone from a woman who called Obama an Arab. McCain said, “no ma'am,” and he called Obama “a decent, family man.”

Sarah Palin is campaigning in Pennsylvania and taking aim at Barack Obama’s position on abortion.

The Republican Vice Presidential Candidate says a vote for Obama is “a vote for activist courts that will continue to smother the open and democratic debate” that she says the country deserves and needs on the “issue of life.”

Palin spoke at a rally before about 5,000 people in Johnstown, about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh.
