Pot shops get green light in Fruita, but can't open yet

Joe Gagnon

FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) - The Fruita City Council has given medical marijuana dispensaries the green light, but they can’t open just yet. According to the City Planner’s office, dispensaries will have to follow regulations similar to liquor stores. For example, dispensaries must be at least 1,000 feet away from schools and daycares and 250 feet from homes or public buildings. They also must keep the drug out of sight so anyone walking by the building cannot see it. City Council will work on some more rules until dispensaries can put in their applications. That will begin in less than 30 days.
