Company seeks ok to build uranium mill in Colo.

Associated Press

DENVER (AP) - A company that wants to build a uranium mill in Western Colorado has begun seeking state approval for the project. The State Health Department said Wednesday that Energy Fuels Resources Corp. filed an application to build a uranium and vanadium mill 12 miles west of Naturita. The mill would be able to process up to 500 tons a day. If approved, the Department said it would be the first new uranium mill built in the nation in more than 25 years. The state has 30 days to determine if the application is complete. If it is, the company would then have to hold at least two public meetings on the proposal. The Montrose County Commissioners would also be able to review the company’s environmental study. (COPYRIGHT 2009 BY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.)
