WHITE HORSE, Canada (KKCO) - This concludes our journey to Alaska as we stop at a town that takes us way back in time and enjoy a train ride through the mountains that has us living in the edge.

Our final night aboard the Volendam brings us to Skagway, Alaska. If fact, as we wake for the day there we are, sitting at the port.

This quaint mountain town takes us back to the late 1800s Gold Rush era.

We have about three hours to look around the Red Onion Saloon, the shops and restaurants. But it only takes about two minutes to walk from one end of this tiny town to the other.

From Skagway we hop on the White Pass, a Yukon train route. And what a ride it is!

At times, the train seems as though it may tip over as we ride the top of deep canyons. A little bit of a scary sight for Barb Harvey of Grand Junction.

All the same, it’s an incredible scene that makes some of us feel at home. Kay Rushing says the Alaskan wilderness isn’t all that different from parts of our own dear Colorado.

Lucky for us the area’s highest peak in the Sawtooth Range is visible for the first time in more than two weeks.

As we wind our way through the terrain we cross into Canada once again. The border is marked by the American and Canadian flags. Now we’re in the Yukon Territory, our destination for the night is the capital, White Horse.

Along the way we stop in the smallest town I’ve ever laid eyes on. Carcross. The main attraction, a small ice cream shop with 27 flavors to choose from. It was well worth the wait in line.

Then we stop by the world’s smallest desert. Not much to see here.

Finally, we roll into White Horse, which marks the end of the road for Todd and I. We’ve only known the people in our group for days, but through the bonds we form, it seems like years.
