Victor Gonzales has been delivering mail in Grand Junction for over 15 years. In that time he has seen those he delivers for grow and change.

One day last November, Hurley, a small pug who lives on his route needed his help. A larger dog had escaped from his yard and was going after the smaller dog, named Hurley.

Victor stepped in and according to the dog's owner, saved Hurley from the larger dog.

But Victor says he didn't do anything extraordinary he was just doing his job, and he just reacted to the situation.

Delivering mail, Victor sees pets everyday. He encourages pet owners to be responsible and treat their pets like pets, not like dogs. He says that way you will enjoy them ten times as much.

Victor is planning to retire as a letter carrier soon, he will be missed by those on his route.
