Summer Blockbusters

What's coming out in the theaters this summer???

So summer is here and so is are the great action-packed movies that go with it.  As a movie buff, I tend to go to the theater far too often and waste more money than food per month.  So instead of going less and saving money, I'm writing this blog for everyone out there who also wants to go to them but don't want to waste the money. Hopefully these reviews will shed some light/darkness on all the movies you have been wanting to watch and will help you decide whether to save or spend those 10 bucks.

I'm starting off with Ironman 2 because it came out in theaters today and is guaranteed to smash records everywhere whether I talk smack or not. Lucky for you, I love Ironman... and Robert Downey, Jr.  The sequel is set after Tony Stark tells the world he is in fact the Ironman. He must now battle those who want to hurt him and his quest to redeem himself for the bloodshed he caused by selling weapons to terrorists. Mickey Rourke is added to the series as 'Whiplash,' the son of an ex-Stark employee who wants revenge when his father dies. Using his father's blueprints, he creates a suit that makes electro-whips to kill Ironman. After his first attempt he starts working for Hammer to take Stark Industries down.

Scarlett Johansson is also introduced to the film as 'Black Widow.' She comes into Stark's life as an assistant but working undercover for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.) to get Ironman to join the Avenger Initiative.

Samuel Jackson becomes a main character as 'Nick Fury' who leads S.H.I.E.L.D. He pops up from time to time to remind Tony that there are others than Ironman trying to save the world. He also helps him find out more about his father.

Don Cheadle takes over the role of 'War Machine' after actor Terrence Howard dropped from the role after the initial Ironman.  Cheadle shows his true form in Ironman 2 and jumps intp a suit, adding some good ol' American firepower.

Last but not least, Gwyneth Paltrow is back as the savior's right-hand-woman, Pepper Potts. She spends so much of her time cleaning up after Ironman he appoints her CEO of Stark Industries  She's stressed for most of the film, and it starts to pull them apart until Tony lets her in on a secret about himself.

With Jon Favreau directing atainand a huge budget, Ironman 2 is expected to be one of the largest openings ever at the Box Office.  If you liked the first movie, if you like Marvel Comic movies, action, any of the actors, or just laser-shooting-futuristic-robots... go to this movie!  If not, wait a week or two and there will be something more to your taste, there are a lot of flicks due to be released.

Comment like crazy or send me an email. I check this daily and would appreciate any comment/talk about the reviews or if there are any suggestions on movies I should check out, let me know!  Email me at chandler.cox@nbc11news.com
