Horton Hears a Who and The Ruins

Well here I am back for another action packed installment of the award winning...wait I haven't received an award, regardless here goes the review.

Thursday I took my family to the newest adaptation of a Dr. Seuss book. I have to say that this is my favorite, not only as a book but the movie is great!!! Horton hears a Who is brought to us by the same creative team that brought us Ice Age and the animation that they are putting out there is just getting better with time. Right up  there with Pixar! The cast is filled to the brim with new and seasoned comedic actors. Lets start with the title role of Horton. Horton is played by non-other than Jim Carrey. Carrey attacks this role as he does most roles...with a surgeons precision , the guy really does a great job and over the years we've seen him go through several different types of roles from slapstick characters like Ace Ventura to the craziness of a murderer in the Number 23. As Horton the faithful elephant Carrey is a sincere and lovable elephant that is determined to save the "speck" no matter what it takes be cause he promised to get them to safety.Carrey delivers the laughs at constant pace I couldn't stop laughing and really heartfelt too. Steve Carell WHO plays the Mayor of Whoville (hahahhaha I crack myself up) does so very well, and really brings the character off the page and onto the screen. Carell's Mayor is well meaning and kind. he wants his son to take his place as mayor and become one of the many great mayors in their family. With a wide array of characters and a truly wonderful moral core this is on of those films that is great for everyone. Playing at the Regal 4 out of 5 stars

Next Saturday I went to a movie I was kind of on the fence about The Ruins. Going into this one I wasn't sure what to think. but I went anyway, and I wasn't disappointed...with the film. Some numb skull with a cellphone was texting through the whole movie and I have to say this people it was very distracting. I really don't get it, first off it's extremely rude to everyone behind you ( and this charming fellow was right up front) secondly you are an idiot for paying money to type on a stupid cell phone. What a waste. back to the movie at hand. The Ruins is the story of two couples on vacation in Mexico that end up going with two guys to these Mayan ruins. well as it happens the locals will not let them leave the ruin and force them to run up to the top after killing one of them. Trapped and scared of the villagers below they decide to wait it out because someone will come and rescue them. They find out that the villager's are the least of their worries....on that note I stop I want you to get out there and check it out for yourself. I give it a big 4 out of 5 stars The Ruins is playing at the Regal and bring a friend to squeeze their arm!

I think that it is incredible that people DON'T have the sense to turn off their cell phones and let everyone else enjoy a movie with their families. I had the same problem with Horton Hears The Who with my daughter. I felt so ripped off ....not by the theater but by the girl that texted the entire time. but any way the movie was great and my daughter had a great time...thanks for your review and I hope I can make it to see The Ruins soon.

I really don't think it is that big of a deal if I am going to text during a movie. I mean, think about it. Of course my phone is on silent, but shouldn't you be watching the movie anyway? What does it matter if I pull my phone out to text a buddy and tell him how lame the move Ruins is anyway. Why are you even looking at my phone when I am texting? Is it because you are trying to ready what I am writing? Maybe that's the way your buddy felt when he was texting during the movie. Talk about a total invasion of privacy. Keep your eyes on your own dang cell phone! Not mine!!! IF you're bothered by my texting during a movie, then don't sit by me, ok? And by the way. Horton Hears A Who... an instant classic! Especially for my kid. He loves it. Thanks for the movie suggestions Joseph. Cant wait to see what movie you watch next. I suggest you watch a chick flick and tell us what you think about chick flicks in general. Alright.... Peace!

I remember when we used to use pay phones. Cell phones didn't even exist. If you wanted to take a phone call during a movie, good luck! It wasn't going to happen unless your mom was calling you at the box office and the teenage geek with acne walked down the aisle with his light-saber flashlight to find you and let you know that you should go home for dinner. Could you imagine how disruptive that would be? And cell phones are 100 times more annoying than that. So do what the ladies soft voice says when you sit down to watch a movie... "SILENCE YOUR CELL PHONE!" and don't even touch it during the movie.

I saw that movie and had the same problem. The guy next to me kept texting one of his friends that was sitting in front of me. I couldn't help but be distracted the entire movie. If you asked me what the movie was about I would tell you that I don't know. But I can tell you that Josh (the kid to my left) and Cecil (the guy in front of me) are both happy with their first quarter gain in the stock market this year and that KMART is a good stock to invest in. They should make movie goers check their phones at the entrance before going in to watch a movie. What MORONS!!!

dont ya just hate that people and their cell phones movies are supposed to be watched and phones off during that time. that jerk should have been made to repay everyone for their time!

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I think the comment by Mr. Seabass was a poor taste of bad judgement, not the actual time spent viewing this depiction of a Dr. Seuss classic. I took my child to the film and he loved it. He cried on the way home because he wanted to go see it again. We are planning on watching it again in a matinee on Saturday. Mr. Seabass should get in touch with his own inner child and go back to watch the film again. He will leave the theater with a warmth in his heart and a possible tear in his eye.

Why did you even spend the time to watch this movie? Talk about a serious taste of bad judgement. More like "Horton hear's a WHO CARES!!!"
