Hello out the in the wide world of the web, I Joe Hendricks of the Reel Blog is here to tell you all what I thought of the newest installment of the Batman Franchise from the folks at Warner Bros. Pictures. Director Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins, Memento and Insomnia) teams up star Christian Bale with the now deceased Heath Ledger as Batman and The Joker respectively. The buzz about this film was sparked by the untimely death of the star Heath Ledger and his AMAZING performance as the maniacal Joker. First let me start with off with fact that I love the first movie and that I have yet to see a movie by Nolan that wasn’t great. Secondly I think that Heath Ledger has in this movie secured as spot on the Hollywood walk of fame; not to mention an Ocsar nod.
Now I have watched this movie twice and I have to say that it was the best Comic Book adaptation I have seen to date! This film is keeping with the promise Nolan made to keep this series as realistic as humanly possible, making it believable that a man that dresses up as a bat to fight crime could actually happen. After watching the Dark Knight I really have to re-evaluate my scores for the Marvel movies I’ve watched this year.
I thought that DC Comics was in deep trouble with their adaptations of their properties, but out comes Batman to save the day with record setting earning for its first weekend.
If you liked Christian Bale in the Batman films check out Equilibrium and the Machinist and Heath Ledger in Monster’s Ball and The Brothers Grimm. I give The Dark Knight two big thumbs up and 5 golden stars
