the clone wars cometh

I went to the newest Star Wars film...I have to say it I saw it, I liked it and that's all there is to it.

I know that you have probably heard that it isn't very good, and yet those same "expert critics" are praising the TV series "The Clone Wars" . Well, since it's the same type of animation and storytelling style... What gives? These so called experts are usually disgruntled FAILED filmmakers and are usually quite bitter.

This is something you won't get with The Reel Blog. I'm not a failed director, I'm a humble local commercial producer and I sometimes go to a movie and know what to expect from certain movies. Going into an animated film based on the Clone Wars and with Lucas' love of serial style films of the 30's and 40's, you should expect the story to have a few goofy aspects.

Furthermore, I think a lot of these so called fanatics (and you know who you are) seem to think that if given the opportunity they could remake the prequel trilogy better. Well, do it bubba. I'm tired of all of this hating on Lucas for being successful.

Tell you what, make me eat crow on this: make a movie and actually create something amazing and let's talk. I don't mean to get fired up about it

Oh, and another thing - you don't have to be a FAILED filmmaker to dislike the new direction that the Star Wars movies have taken. You just need taste.

I don't think anyone is "hating on Lucas" for being successful - people are hating on him because he's no longer the filmmaker he was thirty years ago. It's amazing that such a limited budget ($13 Mil in 70's money) created something that captured the world's imagination and when given $100 millon more, he gives us something devoid of heart, love and energy. In Phantom Menace, he gave us a world that looked like something he created, but ran counter to everything that made it good and lovely. Each successive film showed that not only did he not understand what made the original trilogy so special, he no longer cared. Don't hate Lucas because he's made a 100 bajillion dollars - hate him because he no longer respects that got him there in the first place.

Posted by: thankful thank you for saying it. Too many armchair directors out there
