I spend, on average, hundreds of dollars a year on coffee. So, when McDonald’s announced that it was coming out with a line of espresso drinks, I was excited to find out how they matched up to coffee power player, Starbucks, as well as one of my favorite local joints, Coffee Muggers.
I recruited our morning show director, Charlie Lohse, morning show anchor Lauren Whitney, and 11 News reporter, Joe Gagnon, for a taste test. They all tried a cappuccino from each of the three places (Starbucks, Coffee Muggers and McDonald’s.)
The winner? McDonald’s. It was the favorite of our test group. Some of the comments were that the Starbucks cappuccino was too watered down, and the Coffee Muggers cappuccino was too strong.
Another surprise? The most expensive drink was from Starbucks. The least expensive, of course, was McDonald’s.
