Coffee Addict Finds New Dealer

There’s a new place to get my coffee fix downtown, and it’s a store that comes with an inspiring story of entrepreneurship.

You all know I’m hooked on Coffee Muggers. But when I heard about Alex Mackey’s new coffee joint, I had to investigate.

Alex is a 26-year-old entrepreneur, who started his career in coffee when he bought an espresso cart on eBay. From there, he’s moved his way up to taking over an entire coffee shop on the corner of Fifth and Colorado. It used to be the Colorado Java House, but he’s renamed it Roasted, and has big plans for its future. Click here for the whole story.

When all you ever seem hear is bad news about the economy, high jobless rates, and furloughs, I think it’s nice to be reminded that tough times typically inspire entrepreneurship, because it forces people to go out on their own. Not that starting your own business is easy, but it’s definitely exciting. And Alex has a lot of energy, a cool vibe at his coffee shop, and great espresso. I guess I’ll have to double-date my two favorite places.

What are your thoughts on starting your own business?
