Just like old times

I recently got together with some old friends and found out it was just like old times.

A couple of weeks ago I went to Beaver Creek, Colo. to meet up with some old junior and high school friends. I was a little apprehensive about seeing them after so many years. They had all reconnected about three years ago without me and I wasn't sure I'd fit in.

But let me tell you, having this girl's weekend was like a breath of fresh air.

We all met up outside a restaurant. I immediately recognized everyone right away. We hugged and the chatter began. There was never an awkward pause or silent moment from then on. And let's just say there was no shortage of laughter either.

Of course, we had a few more wrinkles, our hair had changed and we couldn't drink like we use to- but other than that it was like the good old times.

One of the highlights of the trip was pulling out our yearbooks and watching a class reunion video. We talked about old crushes and where life has led us.

It was interesting to see how different our lives were. One friend has a 6-year-old. Another is going to be a grandma and my other girlfriend has a married daughter.

The bond that we made over just two days is possibly stronger than the one we had during school. It meant so much to me to have these loving people around me again. I think one thing that made this such an easy and comfortable time was that no one harped on each other for never calling or coming to visit. We all realized a true friend is low-maintenance but there if you need them.

We had so much fun and have already made plans to do it again next year.

I really hope this becomes a tradition for us. If you haven't already connected with old friends and are nervous to, I think you should just go for it. You'll find it rewarding.

Keep Smiling,

Debbie
