AP- Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff says Assistant Majority Leader and Democratic State Representative Michael Garcia of Aurora has resigned.

Garcia is expected to release a statement later.

The Denver Post and the political website facethestate.com have reported that a female lobbyist accused Garcia of lewd behavior in a bar. Neither The Post nor the website identified the woman.

House Speaker Romanoff announced the resignation and said it was effective immediately.
