GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Fruita Monument won it's season opener, Grand Junction lost to fall to 1-1, and Palisade is 2-0 after going 0-10 to start each of the past two seasons.

Fruita Monument 70, Niwot 62 - All five starters scored in double-figures for the Wildcats as they won their season opener at Niwot High School on Friday night. Lauren LaBonde led the way with 20 points, Jessica Sinner had 13, Taylor Johnson and Keila Utu tallied 12 points each, and Megan Reynoso added 11.

Bellevue East 53, Grand Junction 39 -- The Tigers fell to 1-1 on the season with a 14-point loss to Bellevue East (Neb.) at the Dakota Ridge Tournament. Kricket Adleman led GJHS with 13 points and Paula Lage added 10. Junction plays its third and final game of the tournament at noon on Saturday against the loser of Dakota Ridge and Horizon.

Palisade 54, Cedaredge 33 -- After starting the past two seasons 0-10, the Palisade girls basketball team is 2-0. The Bulldogs beat Cedaredge by 21 points at the Meeker Tournament on Friday night.
