Warriors Get Blowout Win In Own Tournament

GRAND JUNCTION - The Central Warriors help start the high school basketball season by hosting the Warrior Challenge each year. The Warriors helped themselves on opening night Thursday with a huge 68-39 win over Standley Lake.

The Warriors quick pace offense was too much for the Gators with guard Blaine Jackson leading all scorers with 20 points. Sean Citlau added 17 points and Senior Cody Derner chipped in with 14 points.

The Warriors won the first two games of the 2006 tournament by large margins before falling short in the championship game to the Grand Junction Tigers.

Central will take on the Horizon Hawks in game two on Friday at 5:00 p.m. The Hawks lost their opening game to Palisade 60-46.
