MONTROSE, Colo. - The Montrose Indians grabbed the reigns of the Southwestern Conference with a 45-13 Homecoming game win against the Central Warriors on Friday night.

The Indians pulled out to a 17-0 first quarter lead. Jordan Passehl all but put the game away early in the second when he scored on a 40 yard touchdown run.

Central entered with a 1-0 conference record after defeating Fruita two weeks ago. Montrose, who was playing their first SWL contest, walked off the field as the team to beat in league play.

Conference play continues for both teams. Montrose comes to Stocker Stadium to play Fruita on Friday. Grand Junction and Central square off Saturday night at Stocker.
