5A TENNIS REGIONALS: Locals stand out on day one

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- Grand Junction, Fruita Monument, and Central all had strong showings in their first day at the 5A Regional Tennis Tournament.

Central's Jesie Nordstrom defeated Cherokee Trails' Corey Zumar in the opening round (6-2, 6-3). He moved onto the semifinals where he met his end by the defending state champion GJHS' Spencer Weinberg (6-2, 6-3).

Fruita Monument's Vinny Castellini defeated Connor Draper in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 6-4). The tournament will wrap up tomorrow at the Elliot Tennis Center at CMU.
