GRAND JUNCTION - The Central Warriors officially kicked off the high school football season on the Western Slope with an afternoon game on Friday against the Standley Lake Gators. Unfortunately for the Warriors, they lost in a big way 36-6.
The Gators jumped out quick by scoring three first quarter touchdowns and taking a 19-0 lead. The Gators added 17 more points in the second quarter to take a 36-0 lead into the locker room at the half.
The Warriors scored their only touchdown of the game on a 45 yard pass from Clay Kame to Blaine Jackson in the fourth quarter.
The Warriors will be back at Stocker stadium next week to play Valley rival Palisade.
