GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- The western slope 5A baseball teams showed up in a big way this weekend. Fruita Monument, Grand Junction, and Central high school all went undefeated in the Bill Fanning Classic.
Fruita Monument (3-0) won without inducing a heart-attack for the first time this weekend. The Wildcats defeated Prairie View 9-2 behind Drew Bridges' first start on the mound.
Grand Junction (3-0) won their third straight with a six inning 12-2 beating of Horizon. It was their second mercy-shortened game of the weekend; Junction used three triples in the third inning to take a lead, and they never looked back.
Central (3-0) made life easy on themselves this weekend by scoring in double digits in each of their three victories. The Warriors knocked off Fossil Ridge 13-4; CHS scored 39 runs in the Fanning Classic.
