GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. On Friday, Central and Grand Junction put in games against league opponents looking to get ahead as the 2014 regular baseball season is slowly winding down.

For Grand Junction, they were plagued by a slow start as the Cortez Panthers put in six runs, but the Tigers had a big response in the bottom of the third.

They added eight runs in the bottom of the third on their way to an 18-11 win. They improve to 4-4 in the SWL.

Central looked to keep pace with the league-leading Fruita Monument Wildcats and Montrose Indians. They faced Durango, a team that has been up-and-down throughout the season, but on Friday night, it was all uphill.

They demolished the Warriors 14-1, jumping to 5-4 in the SWL, Central drops to 4-3.
