GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Evan McDermott launched a game-winning three-run home run and Dallin Wright tossed a complete game to give Fruita Monument a 7-4 win over Central at Suplizio Field on Thursday.

Alex Kitzman (3-2) kept the Wildcats off balance for most of the game, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the 6th. Trailing 3-1, Drew Bridges led off with his 7th home run of the season for FMHS and McDermott followed with a 3-run homer to give the Wildcats a 5-3 lead. Ty Burtard added a 2-run home run to make it 7-3 FMHS. It was the first career varsity home run for both McDermott and Burtard.

Central (10-5, 3-3) fought back in the top of the 7th. Tanner Denton drove in a run on an infield single to make it 7-4. But Wright (2-2) was able to retire the final two hitters with the bases loaded and the tying run on first for his 3rd CG of the season.

Both teams met last week when Kitzman pitched the Warriors to an 8-2 win.

Fruita Monument improves to 10-5 overall and 4-2 in the Southwestern League. Central falls to 10-5 overall and 3-3 in SWL play.
