GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)-- On Thursday, Central High School students had the opportunity to work up a sweat learning CPR in gym class, rather than playing sports.

Central was latest stop in the P.U.L.S.E. program's tour around all District 51 high schools. The program, which stands for Preventing Unnecessary Life-loss through Student Education, intends to help the community by educating our youth about how to react if someone should enter cardiac arrest.

At no cost to the school district or the schools themselves, the P.U.L.S.E. program not only teaches kids how to perform CPR and certify them through the American Heart Assoc., but the students also learn how to use an A.E.D. (Automated External Defibrillator) as well as taking in healthy eating habits to keep your heart in top form.
